2017/10/13 - BSM RB Looper available again
Good news for all Ritchie Blackmore fans. The high output level of many BSM Treble Booster and preamp units often causes problems with the following modulation unit, especially with the echo-unit that is necessary and important for the real post 74´ Blackmore sound. BSM solved this problem with the RB box (aka Ritchie´s Box), a pure passive looper with two custom-made special line-transformers. In the first step the input level is transformed to 50% to have the standard level for overdrive-free processing in other modern effects. In the second step the signal is pushed up again to 100% in the return-section to the original output-level. With this tricky thing it´s also possible to combine todays modelling-effects and old-style treble-boosters!
The RB box works absolutely passive with two custom-made, top-notch two layer nano-crystalline alloy structure/ferrite, toroidal transformers, adding that analog flair of Ritchies AIWA TP-1011 reel-to-reel tape deck to all digital echo- and delay machines.

  • Famous sound, noise-free by using toroidal transformers in advanced technology.
  • Works distortion-free with all preamp- or line levels.
  • Due to a tricky backward-wiring you can also use the transformers to push any connected stompbox (e.g. an overdrive) to twice or fourth of its original output to reach the output level of a treble-booster with the benefit of its mild and soft characteristics.

2016/04/07 There is a new special preamp/booster pedal in the making: the "RPA Full Quarter", developed for fat single coil pickups like the "Schecter F500", the OBL 450XL (or similar) double blade humbuckers that Ritchie Blackmore used in the 1980 and beginning of the 90s. The pedal ensures no muddy or dull sound with powerful pickups like these in the operation of conventional amps to achieve a dynamic transparent sound. It can also handle the additional inductivity (which tends to cause a dull sound as well) of a dummy coil. It can of course also be used with the Seymour Duncan SSL4 Quarter Pounds (tapped or untapped versions), which were used in the Blackmore signature Strats from Japan and Mexico and were copies of the Schecters. This pedal is THE solution for fat pickups like the above or e.g. the DiMarzio FS-1 and lots of others. Pictures to come.

2015/08/24 The new "RPA California II" booster is finally released now, and is the soul-mate of our California unit, complementing it with a different goal in mind. Whilst the well-proven RPA California primarily highlighted the best possible adaptation to the various pickups by means of an "EQ", with a view to generating Ritchie"s tone at its very best and under all possible conditions, the new RPA California II now calls for the correct pickups. The California II makes use of the free space gained via a volume pot. This allowed for the opportunity to map Blackmore"s tone even with small amps.

2013/07/04 New "RPA California II" booster in progress and will replace the California unit. Whilst the well-proven RPA California primarily highlighted the best possible adaptation to the various pickups by means of an "EQ", with a view to generating Ritchie"s tone at its very best and under all possible conditions, the new RPA California II now calls for the correct pickups. The California II makes use of the free space gained via a volume poti. This allowed for the opportunity to map Blackmore"s tone even with small amps.

2012/11/29 BSM designed a new private stock Booster just for the favourite taste of the company's mastermind. It was intended in the first place to emulate the sound of the 1975 studio recording "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow", second to achieve Ritchie's early Rainbow live sound that can be heard on the nov. '75 bootlegs, e.g. Bacon Theatre, NYC. Furthermore the unit was designed to get this sound from any stock "Bright" input found on classic Marshall amps The story goes that Blackmore recorded the first songs on the road using different studios and without his personalised Marshall Major amps; just his guitar and the AIWA reel-to-reel with the studio's own Marshall amps. Ritchie used Purple's support act "Elf" (with Dio) as backing band and kept the recordings secretly away from his employing band.

2012/07/18 The new "Albuquerque Booster" was inspired by Bad Company"s live Bootleg from Albuquerque on March, 3rd 1976. Guitarist Mick Ralphs as a habit recorded the gig amongst many other concerts. Ralphs had a rich harmonic Les Paul overdrive sound and with drums and bass layering the perfect Rock basis for Paul Rodger"s hoarse blues based vocals. The "Albuquerque Booster" was mainly created for classic Humbucker like PAF equipped guitars so as to get the following amp in strong overdrive saturation. It has this effect with single coils as well. The "slope" switch is very useful if you have no "Bright channel" on your amp. You can reduce the amount of bass noticeable depending on your likes and the amp"s preamp characteristic.
